The domain name was available in 1997 so I bought it. I started building websites in 1996 using a ‘wisywig’ editor, but learned to use code in 1999.
I started out in print design in the mid-1980s, after graduating from California Polytechnic State University with a BS in Graphic Communications. We learned everything from typography to running lithographic and web presses, all before computers were used. Many of my colleagues gave up on this field years ago, but I love it and enjoy it – it’s my passion.
Growing up in school, I was always picked last for sports teams. Not because I was bad at sports, but because I wore glasses and was short (and, not really ‘in’ with the cool kids). This just made me try all the harder to be better than everyone else.
And I still do. Try harder. I like to think I’m cool now, but I leave those sorts of judgements up to others. But what I can say, is that I’m ethical, have a conscience, am a good listener, and am not out to take advantage of anyone. I just want to help others be more successful by providing excellent service and results for a reasonable investment.
I also play hard and take risks. Getting into situations that require 100% focus helps clear my mind and be more creative when I get back to work.
